To supercharge our biodiversity, we grow a wide variety of cash crops suited to our soils.

Cropping comprises winter and spring wheat, oilseed
rape, mustard, vining peas, beans, spring oats, winter
and spring barley, sugar beet, potatoes, herbal leys,
apples, and permanent pasture.
Many cash crops are planted with a companion
crop or an understory to boost biodiversity further.
We mix and blend different crop varieties to reduce
reliance on artificial inputs.
We also grow bi-crops to boost diversity, such as wheat
and beans, or beans and oats, separating them post
harvest.
To improve soil biology, we add compost extract and a
carbon source when subsoiling and drilling.
We have recently drilled a bi-crop of a milling wheat
blend with beans for Wildfarmed. Its biology-driven
approach to farming requires us to eliminate pesticides
and reduce artificial nitrogen use. In return, Wildfarmed
pays a guaranteed premium for the harvested Milling wheat.
